Cross country road trip- part 5

It's 8:08am and Damien and Max are still asleep, laying next to me in bed.  We are in Kingman, AZ, starting our journey back east.  Our first stop today will be the Grand Canyon.  I can't wait for both Damien and Max to see it.  It is nothing that can be described to you.  You have to see it for yourself, to completely understand the magnitude and beauty of it.  What an amazing part of the trip that lies ahead.

These photos are from late last week, as we left Tucson and headed into Cali.  We drove through Joshua Tree National Park, which was unlike anything I have ever seen before.  Joshua Trees are amazing and the landscape surrounding the area looks like another planet.  From there, we drove into Palm Springs and stayed at the Ace Hotel on Friday night.  It certainly is worth a stay.  Such a cool place with so much going on.  We couldn't take full advantage of it all with a 3 year old, but we were happy just exploring the grounds together, taking it all in, dreaming about the next time we make it back out this way.

From the Ace, we hit up the road side dinosaur attraction from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.  It was awesome and pathetic all at the same time.  According to one member of this family, it has been the best part of the trip and now we are actively searching out more dinosaurs.  We spent about an hour there before making our way into the Ventura Area.

On our way to meet our friend in Ventura, we passed a carnival.  There was no way we could tell Max that we couldn't stop there so after a quick visit to the Pacific and a bite to eat, we headed to the carnival.  Turns out it was a Christian Fiesta but it had rides and games and lots and lots of colors so we spend $25 and made Max a happy little camper.

Up next, 3 days in Cali....
